A referral for a deck rebuild from United Home Experts brought us out to Sudbury, Ma. to discuss upgrading the decking and installing new supports for the deck. Further inspection revealed that the deck was never properly supported with code compliant footings. the footing have sunk, leaving the support posts in the air. Mass Home Services wrote up an estimate using new pressure treated 6×6 posts, triple 2×12 beam, and 12″ footings 4 feet deep. Inspections of the footing holes by the Sudbury building inspector, allowed us to install Sona tubes and fill with concrete. The triple 2×12 beam runs parallel to the home and the old floor joists are now sitting on it. this method of deck building allows the deck to be fully supported on the outside edge.
The existing surface decking was made from pressure treated wood that was severely cracked and checked. Having grand children, the homeowners wanted a smooth splinter free deck surface. Azek Heritage Mahogany decking was chosen, along with matching Azek handrails and balusters. Azek trim was applied to all stair risers, and the outside perimeter of the deck to complete a complete maintenance free deck. The deck is now more solid than before and the stairs no longer swing in the breeze. Do not hesitate to call for a free estimate.
